How To Measure A Door

STEP 1

Measure the Width (1) and Height (2) of your door opening in feet and inches.
The rough opening should be the same size as the door.

STEP 2

Measure the area labelled Left Side (3) and Right Side (4). For the installation of a standard torsion spring system, a minimum of 3-3/4” is required on each side of the vertical track.

STEP 3

Measure the area labelled Headroom (5).

This is the distance between the top of the door opening and the ceiling. 12" is necessary for a standard torsion spring system.

If the headroom is restricted, specialized hardware is available. We require additional headroom for the installation of an automatic garage door opener.

Please Note: If the garage door height extends above the opening, the headroom measurement should be adjusted proportionately.

STEP 4

Measure the area labelled Backroom (6).This is the distance from the garage door opening to the back wall of the garage. Door height must be 18" or more.

Please Note: Additional backroom may be necessary for the installation of an automatic garage door opener.
