Can I install a Derkson fence package myself?
Many systems can be supplied for DIY installation. The correct package, instructions and support depend on the fence family, height, post method, gates and site conditions. Use the calculator as a starting point and confirm the final package before ordering.
Do fence posts need concrete?
The answer depends on the fence system, post type, soil, height, wind exposure and project specification. Derkson supports driven and concrete-set methods where appropriate; the accepted quote or package instructions identify the selected method.
Who arranges utility locates?
Required public locates must be complete and visible before ground disturbance. The customer remains responsible for private and secondary facilities such as irrigation, private power, lighting, septic and lines serving outbuildings.
Who confirms the property line and permits?
The property owner is responsible for confirming boundaries, easements, bylaws, permits and surveys unless the signed scope expressly includes that work.
How are slopes handled?
Some systems can follow grade, while others require stepping, transitions, custom panels or grading. Add slope information and photos to the project request so the correct method can be priced.
Can gates be customized?
Yes. Gate width, height, frame, hinges, latch, posts, direction of travel, grade and automation all affect the required opening and components. Use the gate tools or send the opening details for review.
How do I clean vinyl fencing?
Begin with water and mild household detergent using non-abrasive tools. Follow the product manufacturer’s care instructions before using stronger cleaners, solvents, pressure washing or abrasives.
Will vinyl expand and contract?
PVC products move with temperature changes. Correct spacing and installation methods must account for this movement; follow the selected manufacturer’s current instructions.
What warranty applies?
Derkson workmanship coverage and manufacturer material warranties are different. Eligibility and remedy depend on the invoice, signed scope and manufacturer documents. See the warranty centre for the current process.
Can products be shipped across Canada?
Many fence packages, parts and tools can be shipped. Large orders may require terminal pickup, a commercial receiving location or customer-provided unloading equipment.
Can I get supply and installation on the same quote?
Yes. Projects can be supply-only, installation-only where compatible, or supplied and installed. Delivery, mileage, labour, concrete and special site work are shown separately where applicable.
