Fence Installation Terms & Conditions

Booking, site preparation, utilities, installation conditions, changes, completion and payment terms for Derkson Fencing projects.

Quotes, booking and scheduling

Estimates are time-limited as stated on the quote. Expected delivery or installation timing depends on material and crew availability and may change. The deposit or approved financing shown on the accepted quote is required to reserve materials and installation capacity.

Customer site preparation

The customer is responsible for grading and clearing the fence line before installation. Unless the accepted scope says otherwise, the fence follows the natural contour of the ground. Where equipment access is required, a clear route of approximately 6 ft (1.8 m) must be available.

  • Mark all end, corner and gate-post locations before installation.
  • Confirm property lines and obtain permits or surveys when required.
  • Identify private or secondary services, irrigation, water lines and other facilities not covered by the public utility locate.
  • Provide a safe, accessible and debris-free work area.

Utilities, property lines and permits

Derkson Contracting Ltd. may request public utility locates, but the customer remains responsible for identifying private or unmarked services and for confirming property boundaries. Derkson is not responsible for damage to unmarked private lines or for an installation location directed by the customer. Zoning compliance, permits and surveys remain the customer’s responsibility unless expressly included in writing.

Soil, excavation and disposal

Standard pricing assumes normal soil such as topsoil, clay, sand or base gravel and frost-free conditions unless noted. Roots, buried concrete, pit run, soil cement, rock, sandstone, shale, bedrock, groundwater or other concealed conditions may require additional work and charges. Post-hole tailings remain on site unless removal is included or added.

Changes, delays and final quantities

Customer-requested changes, standby time or downtime caused by incomplete customer responsibilities may be charged at the current labour and equipment rates. Final billing is based on actual quantities installed, materials supplied and work completed. Progress billing may be issued for materials delivered and work completed.

  • Additions are charged at current rates.
  • Deletions are credited where applicable.
  • Seasonal, weather, supplier and site delays are handled under the applicable delay and deposit policies.

Payment and ownership

The balance, taxes and approved extras are due as stated on the invoice or signed agreement. Unpaid balances may be subject to the disclosed finance charge, collection costs and remedies permitted by law. Materials remain the property of Derkson Contracting Ltd. until paid in full, subject to applicable law.
